My jewels for a famous shooting

Pendentif On March 21st, I had the immense pleasure to lend my jewels for a famous shooting. In a rock-smart spirit, the model Kira was filmed by Fashion TV in the restaurant "La Maison Blanche" in Paris.
The topic was "Red and black".
My jewels accompanied Chantal Thomas's, Chanel's, Marithé and François Girbaud's clothes.

Marvellous, isn't it ?

My passion for Afghan jewelry : Chokers

Afghan jewelry choker I'm fascinated by the East and its decorative arts. During my studies, I've even begun a thesis on the decorations of Fatimid egyptian mosques. But that it is another story that I shall tell you maybe a day...

Among all the marvellous things of the East, I appreciate the Afghan jewels a lot: Chokers. On the picture, you have one of the most beautiful pieces of my personal collection.

In some words, Chokers are craft jewels realized by certain nomad tribes of Afghanistan. They are created by the families of the brides who wear during ceremonies their most beautiful splendors.

The tribes of Afghanistan are not very rich, but the Afghans overflow imagination and resources when it is a question of highlighting the future brides.

Chokers consists of a piece of tissue (for the protection of the neck) which is mostly covered with a metal meshing on which are hung on authentic precious objects or recovery ones. We find coins, pearls of glass but also some semiprecious stones as lapis lazuli, amethysts, apatites, tourmalines, aquamarines, topazes...
Each Choker is unique, it is its charm. What is a little less charming, is the weight of certain pieces which can make 1 to 3 kilo!

I take advantage of this note to recommand you an excellent site about tribal art and oriental jewels: Tribalmax.

I'd like to receive any information regarding chokers. I would be also delighted to share this passion with you. Thank you in advance for your comments.

Nathalie Breda by her friends

Naughty Creations

Nathalie began collecting and making costume jewelry in childhood. She confides that, very early, she had fun dismantling her parents' crystal chandelier to make necklaces and earrings. Tassels, pompoms and other decorative trimmings served as belts and bracelets. She even smashed little mint boxes into flower-shaped brooches.
Cultural Treasures

A graduate degree in Art History led Nathalie to focus on the Middle East and decorative motifs in mosques. Travels in oriental cultures provided inspiration for her creations. After coming back to Paris, she worked for the Spanish designer Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, discovering a rich universe of bright colors. Nathalie is an up and coming contemporary fashion jewelry designer.

A chrysalis becomes a butterfly
In 2002, Nathalie created her own brand, which has met with great success wherever exhibited.. She mixes old jewelry, Murano beads, embroidery and feathers to make fascinating baroque creations.

With slightly acid colors and soft material, the "Pompon" collection transports us back into our childhood fantasies. A veritable cornucopia of delights, her necklaces tempt one to take a bite. Her mysterious "Metal" collection is charged with spirituality. Some pieces refer to religion and superstition. Nathalie successfully weaves them into her own style.

Everywhere, vivid color bursts forth revealing Nathalie's irrepressible touch and the hallmark of the healing and energising powers with which she infuses her creations.

Her fashion jewelry reflect Nathalie Breda's philosophy of spontaneity, optimism and joy.
